This Room Is Mine
I am a cat. This room is mine.
I go under the bed. It is dark and good under there.
I come out. I jump up, up, onto the high shelf. Now I am above everything.
I look down at the floor. The floor is far below me.
I push a cup off the shelf. It falls down. Crash!
I do not want to jump.
A small voice comes from under the bed. It is the other cat. “Over here,” she says. “It is safe under here.”
So I jump down, and I go back under the bed. The shelf can wait.
