The Smallest Animal
It is a hot day. The animals are thirsty. They all come to the watering hole.
The lion drinks first. “I am the king,” he says. “I am strong.” “I am the biggest animal here.”
Then the elephant comes. “No,” she says. “Look at me.” “I am bigger than you.” “I am bigger than all the animals.”
The snake is small. She is very thirsty too. But the lion and the elephant stand in her way.
“Move, please,” says the snake. “I am thirsty.”
“You are too small,” says the lion. “Wait.”
So the snake waits. Then she opens her mouth. The lion runs. The elephant runs.
The snake drinks. “I am not big,” she says. “But now the water is all mine.”
