The Number Nine Bus
The number nine bus is late again.
Mei stands at the bus stop on King Street. She waits here every morning. The bus usually arrives at eight o'clock. But today it is ten past eight, and the bus is not here.
Mei looks at the long line of people. A woman reads her phone. Two boys talk about a game. Everybody waits.
At last, the bus arrives. Mei gets on quickly. “Sorry,” the driver says. “There is a lot of traffic today.”
Mei finds a seat. She looks at her watch. The bus is twelve minutes late.
“It is okay,” she thinks. “I am often early. Today I am just on time.”
