The Dog and the Ball
The girl is swimming in the pool. Her dog sits at the edge and watches.
The dog does not like the water. He watches the girl go up and down the pool. He waits.
“Come in!” the girl calls. “The water is nice.”
The dog looks at the water. He looks at the girl. No. He stays at the edge.
Then a ball falls in the pool. The girl's ball! The dog wants the ball.
The dog jumps in. Splash! Now the dog is swimming too. He is not happy, but he has the ball.
The girl laughs. They get out and walk home. They go past the park and past the shop.
At home, the dog is wet and cold. He looks at the girl. Next time, he thinks, the girl can get her own ball.
