Same Call Next August
(Yusuf calls Dina on a Tuesday night. They haven't spoken since last summer.) Yusuf: So. Still eating chocolate in bed? Dina: Still eating chocolate in bed. You still buying jackets? Yusuf: Three since March. Dina: Three. Yusuf: One is for my brother. Dina: Is it? Yusuf: It will be. Some day. Dina: And the gym at six in the morning? Yusuf: I decided six was too early. Dina: So now you go at seven? Yusuf: Now I go at never. Dina: Mm. Yusuf: What about your fridge? Dina: What about it? Yusuf: Last August you said you'd clean it. You said it was a health problem. Dina: I hate that question. Yusuf: You don't hate the question. You hate the fridge. Dina: Fine. There's a thing at the back and I don't know what it is any more. Yusuf: Is it moving? Dina: Not yet. Yusuf: Dina. Dina: I'll get to it. Yusuf: You know what's funny? Last August we both promised to fix all this. We were very serious. Dina: We were. We had a plan. Yusuf: We had two plans. Dina: Okay. Same call next August? Yusuf: Same call next August.
