Marco Decides on Golf
Marco wanted to learn to ski. On Saturday morning, he went to the beginner slope in the mountains.
His instructor was kind and slow. “First, just stand on the snow,” she said.
Marco stood on the snow. Then he fell over immediately. He had not even moved.
“Try again,” the instructor said. “Slowly this time.”
Marco tried again. He moved two metres and fell again. The snow was cold and his legs were everywhere. A small child skied past him beautifully.
“You are doing fine,” the instructor said kindly. She was definitely being polite.
Marco sat in the snow and thought about it. He used to play golf. Golf was nice. You walked slowly. You did not fall over. The ground stayed flat.
“That was incredible,” he said. “I have decided. I will play golf.”
The instructor laughed. “Golf is a good sport too,” she said.
Marco took off his skis and walked carefully back to the café. He did not fall once.
