Half
(A busy Saturday market. Aisha stops at a fruit table.)
Aisha: Declan? Declan Byrne?
Declan: Aisha! No way.
Aisha: How long is it? Seven years?
Declan: Eight. You look great.
Aisha: I don’t. I have a baby now.
Declan: A baby! Boy or girl?
Aisha: A girl. She’s with her dad today.
Declan: That’s fantastic.
Aisha: You have a lot of bags.
Declan: Apples, onions, bread. And this.
Aisha: Chocolate. Of course.
Declan: It’s for my girlfriend. She’s over there, in the coffee line. Come on, I’ll introduce you.
Aisha: In a minute. You know, at school you always had chocolate in your bag.
Declan: And I always gave you half.
(Declan opens the chocolate and breaks it in two.)
Declan: Here.
Aisha: Declan! That’s for her.
Declan: The shop’s right there. I’ll buy another one.
