One Car
I sleep by the door. I am a dog. I can hear the road all day.
One car is not like the other cars. It is my car. First a little sound. Then a big sound. Then it stops.
I can hear it before the gate. I get up. I go to the door. I wait. Then she comes in. That is the best part of the day.
Today a car comes at four o’clock. A little sound. A big sound. It stops. I get up. I go to the door. I wait.
The car goes away. It is not my car.
I don’t go back to my bed. I sit by the door. My car can come at five. It can come at six. I can wait. I am good at this.
