Last and Best
The teacher read the results from the board. Two children waited in front of her.
“Who is first?” asked Ben.
“Mia is first,” the teacher said. “You are second, Ben.”
“And third?”
“Sam is third. Then Leo is fourth.”
“And me?” asked Ben's little sister, Pip. “Where am I?”
The teacher looked down the board.
“You are fifth, Pip. Last.”
Pip smiled a big smile.
“Fifth is better than sixth!”
“There is no sixth,” said Ben.
“Then I am the best at last place,” said Pip.
