Three Bins for a Cleaner Town
Starting next month, every home in our town will follow a new recycling rule. People are now asked to sort their waste into three bins instead of one. The town council says the change is a simple measure that will make a big improvement to the local environment.
Until now, all rubbish was thrown into the same bin and taken to one place outside the town. Much of it could have been used again. Under the new system, paper, glass, and food waste must be kept apart. Each type is then sent to a different centre and turned into something useful.
The council says the new bins will be supplied to every household free of charge. Residents are told that the rule is not a choice. Bins that are not sorted correctly will not be collected.
Some people worry that three bins are too many. Others welcome the higher standard. “It takes a few minutes a week,” one resident said. “That's a small price for a cleaner town.”
The council expects the first results to be seen within a year. If the measure works, the amount of waste sent away could fall by half.
