The Weekend in Room 12
I am Pip. I am a guinea pig. I live in a cage in Room 12 at Bell Street School.
On Friday all the children go home. The room is quiet. I push the little door of my cage with my head, and it opens.
I am free! I go under the desks. I eat one leaf from the plant by the window. It is not good.
Then I go to the big door. It is closed. I can’t open it.
Now I am hungry. My food is in my cage. So I go back. I put my head in the little door, and I sit down in my bed.
I sleep all Saturday. I sleep all Sunday. On Monday the children come back.
“Pip is very quiet today,” the teacher says. “He’s a good boy.”
I am quiet. I am tired! But next Friday, I can open my door again.
