The Summer Fete Meeting
Margaret: Right, let’s begin. We need to organize the summer fete. There’s a lot to do.
Idris: I made a list. We have the music, the food, the games, and the tables.
Margaret: Good. So who’s going to do the music?
Idris: I think we should ask the school band. They played last year.
Margaret: They were very loud last year.
Idris: They were. But the children loved it.
Margaret: That’s a fair point. Okay, the band stays. What about the food?
Idris: I have a suggestion. Last year we made all the food ourselves, and we were so tired.
Margaret: Yes, I remember. I’m not going to do that again.
Idris: So this year, we ask each family to bring one dish. Less work for us.
Margaret: That’s a good suggestion. I like it. Let’s write that down as a decision.
Idris: Done. Now, the games.
Margaret: We should keep them simple. Last year’s “Find the Treasure” game was a disaster.
Idris: Why? The children enjoyed it.
Margaret: They did. But you hid the treasure so well that nobody found it. We had to dig up the whole garden.
Idris: Ah. Yes. That was my task. Maybe this year, someone else hides the treasure.
Margaret: That’s our best decision yet.
Idris: Fine, fine. So, after all this discussion, what have we agreed?
Margaret: The band plays, the families bring the food, the games stay simple, and you don’t touch the treasure.
Idris: It sounds like a good fete. Or at least a calm one.
Margaret: A calm fete is the best kind. Same time next week?
Idris: Same time. I’ll bring the biscuits.
Margaret: Then this meeting is closed.
