Telephone or Phone?
Bram came into the phone shop. “Hello. My telephone is broken. I need a new telephone.”
The shop assistant looked at him. “A new what?”
“A telephone,” Bram said. “This old word! My grandson says ‘phone.’ I say ‘telephone.’”
The assistant smiled. “Ah, a phone! Same thing. This one is very good.”
“Is it the same as my old telephone?”
“No,” she said. “This one is much better. But it’s still a phone.”
Bram took it. “Good. One more thing. Can it call my grandson?”
“Of course.”
“Then I don’t care what we call it!”
