Somebody’s Summer
In July and August, the schools in Spain and Italy are closed. It is hot, and many families go to the sea.
In September, children in London and New York go back to school with new bags.
But in December it is summer in Sydney. School is finished, and there are six weeks of holiday. Some children have Christmas on the beach.
In January, the beaches in Argentina are full of children. School starts again at the end of February.
In March, the new school year starts in Chile. In Japan it starts in April, when there are pink flowers on the trees.
So in July, children in Spain are at home. In January, children in Argentina are at home. Somewhere in the world, it is always somebody’s summer holiday.
