Look Up, Not Down
It was winter, and the ground was hard. I was cold, and I was very hungry.
In autumn I put my nuts in a good place. I put a lot of nuts there! But where is a good place? I didn't remember.
I dug under the big tree. There was a stone there. No nuts.
I dug next to the old bench. There was water there. No nuts.
I dug behind the wall. There was nothing there. Now my feet were cold too.
Two birds watched me. They didn't help.
I sat down. Then I looked up. There was a hole in the big tree, and my nuts were in the hole. All of them!
Next winter, I look up first.
