In My Opinion
(Tuesday morning on Beech Road. Ana and Milo are outside number 14, looking at the bins.)
Ana: In my opinion, this street doesn't recycle enough.
Milo: Really? I think we're okay.
Ana: Okay? Count the green bins.
Milo: Fine. How many people live here? Forty? Fifty?
Ana: About a hundred.
Milo: So for a population of a hundred, four green bins isn't bad.
Ana: Four green bins and thirteen black ones.
Milo: Hmm. All right, that's not great.
Ana: And it's not only us. The region collects glass once a month. Once!
Milo: I agree with you there. Once a month is awful.
Ana: Every other street in the region does better.
Milo: Every other street? Have you looked?
Ana: I've looked at three.
Milo: Right.
Ana: So we keep our bottles in the kitchen for four weeks, and then we forget them.
Milo: I don't forget mine.
Ana: I thought we had an understanding about the glass.
Milo: We do. I keep mine safe. Very safe. In my kitchen.
Ana: How many bottles, Milo?
Milo: Some.
Ana: How many?
Milo: Nineteen.
Ana: Nineteen?
Milo: In my opinion, that's a lot.
