Grandma's First Email
Grandma wanted to send her first email. Her grandson Theo sat next to her.
“In my day, we used the post,” Grandma said. “A letter, a stamp, a long wait.” “Or the telephone.”
“Now you just write and click, Grandma,” Theo said. “It goes online.” “It is fast.”
Grandma typed one slow word at a time. “Dear Theo,” she wrote. Then she stopped.
“But Theo is here,” she said. “I cannot send an email to a boy in my own kitchen.”
Theo laughed. “Then send it to Aunt Rosa.” “She is far away.”
Grandma smiled and typed again. She clicked the button.
“It is gone!” she said. “No stamp, no post, no waiting.” She picked up her phone. “Now I will call Rosa and ask, did my email come?”
