Free Delivery
(A small office in Portland, twelve o’clock.)
Jack: I’m hungry. Do you want to share a lunch order?
Fiona: Sure. I’ll pay half.
Jack: Great. Soup or noodles?
Fiona: Either. I like both.
Jack: Noodles, then. Hey, delivery is free over thirty dollars.
Fiona: How much is our order now?
Jack: Twenty-two dollars.
Fiona: So it isn’t free.
Jack: Wait. I can add a second box of noodles. Double noodles, and then we’re at thirty.
Fiona: Jack, a box of noodles is eight dollars. The delivery is three.
Jack: Yes, but the delivery is free.
Fiona: You’re paying eight dollars to save three.
Jack: I’m paying eight dollars for noodles. The delivery is a present.
(He clicks the button.)
Fiona: Okay. But I’m eating half of them.
