First We Fold, Second We Draw
Mei and Sam sat at the kitchen table. They wanted to make a paper plane.
Mei: First, take a piece of paper.
Sam: Okay. I have it.
Mei: Second, fold it in the middle.
Sam: Like this?
Mei: Yes. Then fold the two corners down. That's the design.
Sam: It looks good! Let's add a detail. I want to draw a face on it.
Mei: A face? Why?
Sam: Every plane needs a happy face!
Mei: Okay. First we fold, second we draw. Now we fly it!
(Sam throws the plane. It flies up, then down, then into the milk.)
Sam: First it flies. Second it swims.
Mei: We did not design a boat, Sam!
