Two Umbrellas
(A small flat in Leeds. Rain on the window. Two bags by the door.)
Wren: It's a short trip, but it's October. Did you remember the umbrella?
Camille: I don't have it. You had it on Thursday.
Wren: No. You took it to your piano lesson.
Camille: Maybe. But you pack the bags. That's your job.
Wren: I pack the bags because you forget things. You forgot your train ticket in July.
Camille: One time! And the conductor was nice about it.
(Camille opens Wren's bag. She takes out an umbrella. Then another umbrella.)
Camille: Two umbrellas?
Wren: One for you, one for me. I always pack an extra.
Camille: Oh.
Wren: Your jacket's in there too. And a bottle of water.
Camille: So I do forget things.
Wren: Yes. That's why I pack the bags. Take the small one. I'll carry the heavy bag.
