The Leaving Party
Sofia: So. The leaving party. Friday at four.
Malik: Do we need a party? A card is a party.
Sofia: A card is a card. Focus, please.
Malik: Okay. Focus. What’s on the list?
Sofia: Food, drinks, music, chairs, a sign for the door.
Malik: Ask the Manchester office. They organize things.
Sofia: I asked. They said it isn’t their matter.
Malik: Of course they did.
Sofia: Food, then. I hope you can cook.
Malik: I can order. It’s the same thing, but better.
Sofia: Fine. Drinks?
Malik: Easy. Anyone can carry two bags of bottles.
Sofia: Great. You’re anyone.
Malik: I hate this list.
Sofia: Music?
Malik: My phone and the speaker in Meeting Room 3.
Sofia: The sign?
Malik: The printer’s broken again.
Sofia: Then write it by hand.
Malik: My handwriting is terrible.
Sofia: Then it’ll look personal.
Malik: And the chairs?
Sofia: The chairs are a question for you, on Thursday.
Malik: Any further questions?
Sofia: One. How many people said yes?
Malik: Twelve.
Sofia: So how many are you ordering food for?
Malik: Forty. There’s lunch for Monday too. I’ll bring a big bag on Friday.
