The Best Biscuit in Town
The waiter brought the bill, and Rosa picked it up first.
“How much is it?” I asked.
“Twenty-two pounds,” she said. “I had the soup and a biscuit. You had the bean salad and the big lunch.”
“All right. So I owe more.”
“A bit more, yeah.” She grinned.
“Can I have a look?” I took the bill. The soup was four pounds. My salad was three.
“Rosa,” I said, “the biscuit costs the same as my whole lunch.”
“It was the best biscuit in town,” she said. “Worth every penny.”
I paid for the biscuit too.
