One More Sunday
It is Sunday night. Sam packs his school bag slowly.
“Have you got your pencil and your pen?” Mum asks.
“Yes,” Sam says. “And my homework. All of it.”
He puts in his history book and his geography book. Two subjects, two big books.
“There is a test tomorrow,” he says. “Geography. I know all the rivers and all the mountains.”
Mum smiles. “Then you are ready.”
Sam looks at the bag. “I am ready,” he says. “But I want one more Sunday. Just one more.”
