Jam on the Shirt
Ingrid: Otto, the photo is in ten minutes. Look at your hair!
Otto: What’s wrong with my hair?
Ingrid: It’s too messy. It’s sticking up at the back. Here, use this brush.
Otto: You’ve got messy hair too, you know. It’s all curly today.
Ingrid: My hair is always curly. That’s normal. Yours is just untidy.
Otto: Fine. Where’s the brush?
Ingrid: In the bathroom. And wash your face — there’s jam on your chin.
Otto: There isn’t.
Ingrid: There is. Look in the mirror.
Otto: Oh. Okay, there’s a little jam.
Ingrid: Grandma wants a nice, tidy photo. Not too fancy, but tidy.
Otto: You’re wearing a fancy dress. That’s not fair.
Ingrid: This isn’t fancy. It’s just clean.
Otto: My shirt is clean enough.
Ingrid: It’s not clean enough. There’s jam on that too now.
Otto: How? I only just washed my chin!
Ingrid: You touched your shirt with a jam finger. Go and change.
Otto: We’ve got two minutes!
Ingrid: Then run. Grandma never waits.
