I Accuse Sol Anyway
Greta laid the cards on the table. “Right. Lord Pemberton is dead, and one of us is the criminal.”
“It wasn't me,” Felix said quickly. “At nine o'clock, I was reading in the library.”
“Reading?” Sol raised an eyebrow. “You can't have been reading. The library lights were broken. It says so on my card.”
Felix went pale. “Fine. I was in the kitchen. But I didn't do it.”
“The kitchen!” Greta pointed at him. “The poison was in the kitchen. You must have done it. You're guilty.”
“I'm not guilty,” Felix said. “I have no doubt about that.”
“Everyone in this room has doubt about that,” Sol said.
“Wait,” Greta said slowly. “Sol, how did you know the library lights were broken? That's not on your card. That's on mine.”
The room went silent. Sol looked at his cards. He looked at the door, as if he wanted to escape.
“Arrest him,” Felix whispered.
“It's a board game, Felix,” Greta said. “Nobody is getting arrested.”
“Oh,” said Felix. “Right. Then I accuse Sol anyway.”
