How to Help at the Rescue Open Day
Once a year, the Brackley Animal Society opens its doors to the whole town. If you love animals and want to help, this is the day for you. Here is how it works.
First, come to the open day on Sunday morning. You do not need to bring anything. Just walk in, say hello, and tell someone at the desk that you would like to volunteer. They are always happy to see a new face.
Next, choose what kind of help you can give. You should pick something that fits your week. Maybe you can walk a dog twice a week. Maybe you can clean the pens on a Saturday. Maybe you can only give one hour, and that is fine too. Every hour matters.
If you want to work with the animals, you must arrange a short training first. Do not worry — it is easy. A staff member will show you how to feed a nervous cat or hold a small rabbit. Listen carefully, and ask questions if you are not sure.
Some people cannot give their time, and that is okay. You can still support the society in other ways. Bring old towels, buy a bag of food, or simply tell your friends about the open day.
Finally, if you decide you want a pet of your own, you can apply to take one home. This is a big step. The staff will ask about your home and your hours, because they want every animal to go to the right place. It is necessary, and it is worth it.
Come on Sunday. Bring your kindness, and leave with a friend.
