A Duck on a Cold Pond
I am a duck. I live on a cold pond near the park.
The water is grey. There is ice on the rocks. The air is cold on my back.
A boy comes to the pond. He has a bottle and a bag of bread. I am hungry.
I climb out of the water. I shake my wings.
The boy throws some bread. It falls below me, on the grass. I begin to eat.
There is one duck. There are two ducks. Now there are five ducks! We are not bored. There is bread for all of us.
The bag is empty now. The bottle is empty too. The boy waves and walks home.
I am full. A duck does not need much. There is bread, and there is a friend. That is enough.
