Three Coins
(A payphone by Gate 4 at the bus station in Buffalo. Your bus leaves at ten.)
You: Hi. It's me.
Yasmin: You're at the station?
You: Yeah. I've got three coins.
Yasmin: Three! That's not many.
You: It's enough. I only want to say goodbye.
Yasmin: Where does the bus go first?
You: Chicago. Then two more buses after that.
Yasmin: You never travel this far. Phone us when you get there. Any time. I don't sleep much.
You: Okay. I will.
(The phone makes a long beep. One coin left.)
You: I have to go. Goodbye, Yasmin.
Yasmin: No. Not goodbye.
You: What, then?
Yasmin: See you in June.
You: See you in June.
(The line goes quiet. Your bus is here.)
