The Fancy Box
(Saturday morning at the fruit stall on Green Street.)
Ivy: Morning, Elsa! These strawberries are new.
Elsa: Are they sweet?
Ivy: Very sweet. Try one.
(Elsa eats a strawberry.)
Elsa: Mmm. Delicious. How much is that big box?
Ivy: Ten dollars. That's the fancy box. It has a birthday card on it.
Elsa: Ten dollars! It's a present for my mother. Her birthday is today.
Ivy: Then take these two small boxes. Eight dollars. It's my Saturday deal.
Elsa: Two boxes for eight dollars?
Ivy: Yes. And more strawberries.
Elsa: OK! Here's a ten-dollar bill.
(Ivy gives Elsa two dollars change. Then she takes the card from the big box and puts it on the small boxes.)
Elsa: Oh! Now they're fancy too.
Ivy: Happy birthday to your mother!
