Pounds into Yen
The traveller stood at the bank counter, holding her passport and looking worried. She was flying to Japan in the morning.
“I'd like to change some money, please,” she said. “Pounds into yen.”
“Of course,” the clerk said. “How much would you like to change?”
“Three hundred pounds. Is that enough? I've never been so far before.”
“It depends on your trip, but for a week it should be fine. If you run out, you can always use a card.” He counted the notes. “Do you have an account with us? I can confirm the rate is better for our customers.”
“Yes, I do.”
“Good. Then I'd advise you to take some cash and keep your card for emergencies. Unless you lose the card, you won't have any problems.”
“And if I do lose it?”
“Then you contact the bank straight away, and we cancel it and send you a new one. Despite all the scary stories, it's usually quick.”
The traveller put the yen carefully into her bag. “You make it sound easy.”
“It is easy,” the clerk said. “The hard part is choosing what to eat when you get there.”
