Felix Ties It Twice
Felix sat on the front step with one shoe open. The school bus came at eight.
“Bend the loop,” his dad said. “Now pull it back through.”
Felix pulled. The knot fell open.
“Again.”
Felix made a bigger loop. He pulled it back through. The knot fell open again.
“Okay. Now do it two times,” his dad said. “A double knot is better. It won’t come open.”
Felix bent the loop. He pulled it back through. Then he did the same thing again, on top of the first knot.
He stood up and jumped. Twice. The shoe stayed closed.
“Better?” his dad said.
“Better,” Felix said. He looked down at his other shoe. “Now this one. I’ll do it.”
