An Honest Answer

The interviewer looked at Bruno's papers.

“So, you say you're an expert with computers,” she said. “Can you tell me about that?”

“Of course,” Bruno said. “I'm very good. I can fix any problem.”

“Great. We need someone able to work fast.” “Have you ever fixed a big company's system?”

“Yes, many times,” Bruno said. “I'm honest — I never make mistakes.”

The interviewer smiled. “Never? That's impressive.”

“Well,” Bruno said, “except last week.” “I broke my own laptop. And the week before that. And, actually, this morning.”

There was a moment of silence. Then the room filled with laughter.

“You said you were honest,” the interviewer said. “I didn't expect it to be that honest.”
